ADMINISTRATIVE APPEAL

This is to inform the public that under the authority provided in Section 125-103 of the Bar Harbor Land Use Ordinance, the Appeals Board, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 7:00 PM, will hold a public hearing for an administrative appeal of the Planning Board’s written decision of approval of Conditional Use CU 2016-01 on April 13, 2017 pursuant to section 125-103 of the Bar Harbor Land Use Ordinance.

The property is located at 68 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor Tax Map 104, Lot 414-000 which is located within the Mount Desert Street Corridor district. The applicants are Robert & Anne Bahr, 57 Mount Desert Street; Michelle & Eric Alvin, 74 Mount Desert Street; Andrew Geel, 47 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.

The application is filed as AB-2017-01 and is available for public review in the Planning Department office, which is located in the Municipal Building at 93 Cottage Street in Bar Harbor. Public comment may be received on or before July 3, 2017 in writing to Robert Osborne at this address, or directly by email: rosborne@barharbormaine.gov.

Under the requirements of Section 125-103 D. (1)(d) of the Bar Harbor Land Use Ordinance, notice of the hearing will be advertised in the Mount Desert Islander for publication the weeks of June 22, 2017 and June 29, 2017. Abutters within 300’ of the property will be notified by US Mail.

Liquor License Hearing

The Tremont Board of Selectmen has scheduled a Public Hearing to start at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2016 at the Tremont Town Office in the Harvey Kelley Meeting Room for the consideration of the following application:

License for an Incorporated Civic Organization filed by the Seal Cove Auto Museum for a state special gathering/event liquor license for its Murder Mystery Community Dinner fund raiser to be held on July 23, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend this hearing as the Selectboard is expected to act on the above application at that time.

City of Ellsworth

PUBLIC NOTICE and AGENDA for July 5, 2017

The regular meeting of the Ellsworth Planning Board will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 7:00 PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall to hear public comment and for consideration of the following requests:

1. Adoption of Minutes from the June 7, 2017, meeting.

2. Final Plan for a Major Use Site Development Plan titled DM&J Waste for DM&J Waste. The proposal is to construct a compost facility for sludge from wastewater treatment plants and seafood waste. The proposed developed area is about 173,000 SF on 13.1-acre of land located off the Mariaville Road but accessed via the Industrial Road. The property consists of two parcels: a 5-acre parcel of which about 3 acres is occupied by a demo debris facility and an 8.1-acre vacant parcel (respectively Tax Map/Lot: 50/75 and 50/76), in the Business Park Zone. The proposal is to include a total of about 8,360 SF of pads and/or storage areas, 36,600 SF of compost storage area, and a 288 SF office building.

3. Preliminary Plan for a Major Use Site Development Plan titled Maine Storage Plus for Mark Remick/Remick Storage, LLC. The proposal is to expand the Maine Storage Plus business located on Route 1A/Bangor Road to the northwest by constructing a total of 13,500 SF of new self-storage units (three 4,500 SF buildings) on 2.1-acre of land (Tax Map/Lot: 58/20), in the Urban Zone. Access will be through the existing facility from Route 1A.

Special Amusement Permit Renewal

The Bar Harbor Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, to consider the following special amusement permit renewal: Finback Alehouse, 30 Cottage Street, request for Class 3a, three or more musicians with mechanical amplification, as submitted by Matthew Haskell.

The Ellsworth Housing Authority is accepting proposals for Project Based Housing Choice Vouchers. Request for Proposal packets will be available starting June 16, 2017 at the Ellsworth Housing Authority located at 80 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, Maine

The purpose of the Project Based Voucher Program is to create new affordable housing via renovation of existing properties, new construction, or existing unsubsidized units. At the direction of the Board of Commissioners, the PHA will commit approximately 6 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers for successful proposals. Extra consideration with be given to proposals that include housing homeless families.
The Ellsworth Housing Authority is now accepting applications for Project Based Assistance for the creation of affordable housing within the City of Ellsworth, Maine. The Request for Proposals packet outlines the submission requirements and selection criteria for these proposals. Selection will be based on a point system. The deadline for submission is July 31, 2017.
