Autism Awareness Walk in Bar Harbor
April 16 @ 10:00 am
Area children and adults with autism, their family members and caregivers, and anyone who wishes to join will participate in Downeast Horizons’ 11th annual Autism Awareness Walk-a-thon in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, April 16.
The 2-mile walk begins at 10 a.m. at Agamont Park, at the bottom of Main Street overlooking the town pier and Frenchman’s Bay.
Donations and proceeds from the Autism Awareness Walk-a-thon will allow continued growth of the autism resource library at Downeast Horizons. Proceeds will also fund social groups, activities for the children and early intervention public service messages. Downtown businesses are encouraged to show their support by displaying posters and signs announcing the Autism Awareness Walk-a-thon. Camden National Bank is the major sponsor of this year’s event.
Information about the Autism Awareness Walk-a-thon, including pledge and donation forms, is available on the Downeast Horizons website, www.dehi.org, or by calling (855) 894-3599. Everyone who raises $25 or more will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
The walk will follow a route from Agamont Park up Main Street all the way to Park Street, by the town athletic fields. From Park Street, walkers will follow Ledgelawn Avenue, then crossing to Holland Avenue back downtown. The route then proceeds up Mount Desert Street, over to Cottage Street and back to Agamont Park. This event is rain or shine.
