Blue Hill History Hunt
August 5 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The First Congregational Church and four other historic Blue Hill entities will celebrate the church’s 250th anniversary by hosting a “History Hunt” around the town on Friday, Aug. 5, from 1-4 p.m.
It was 250 years ago, in 1772, that eight men and six women established the First Congregational Church in the Blue Hill area, where Massachusetts settlers had landed a decade earlier.
In commemoration, the “History Hunt” invites participants of all ages to the Jonathan Fisher House, Blue Hill Historical Society’s Holt House, the American Legion (formerly the Blue Hill Academy), and the Blue Hill Public Library to explore local history over the past 250 years.
At each location, a map and instructions for the hunt will be provided. By visiting the locations and finding answers to the questions, you will decode a secret message! The hunt ends up at the Congregational Church, where punch and cookies will be served, and all contestants can participate in a prize drawing.
Guided tours are also available at most locations.
