Early Bird Pajama Sale and Bed Races in Bar Harbor
November 9 @ 6:00 am
The 25th annual Early Bird Pajama Sale and Bed Races kick off the holiday season on Nov. 9 in downtown Bar Harbor. Comfort and efficiency is the key to success at this event. Shoppers save time getting ready in the morning by staying in their pajamas, keeping them comfortable all day long. Staying in their pajamas is also a plus for those participating in the bed races, who can snuggle back into bed while going on a wild ride.
Participating businesses throughout downtown Bar Harbor open their doors at 6 a.m. for this special occasion, encouraging people to come straight from bed for marked-down prices and discounts that get even better if you come in your pajamas. These discounts, which only come around once a year, end at 9 a.m., forcing shoppers to get up early if they want to purchase gifts for friends and family at reduced prices.
Following the Early Bird Pajama Sale, shoppers can then attend the bed races at 10 a.m. At this unique event, local businesses form teams and decorate rolling beds. Beds line up in front of 1932 Criterion Theatre before being pushed and pulled down the village streets in an attempt to finish with the best time. Each team consists of four pushers, as well as one rider who must stay on the bed or face delaying his or her team. Teams placing first and second, as well as the best decorated bed, will be awarded prizes for their hard work.
While in town, explore the sights to see unobstructed views of the chilled, but still staggeringly beautiful, landscape and maybe even some snow. Learn more about the Early Bird Pajama Sale and Bed Races at www.visitbarharbor.com/early-bird-pajama-sale-bed-races.
