Felting Workshop in Brooksville
July 19 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Reversing Falls Sanctuary is hosting a workshop titled “Controlled Tangle – An Introduction to Felting” with Mia Kanazawa on Tuesday, July 19, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with an hour lunch break. Please bring a sack lunch.
This free class is designed for self-directed teens to adults and is limited to eight participants.
Before there was woven fabric, before crochet and knitting, there was felt. Learn the ancient art of creating textiles from wool using wet felting techniques. Wet felting utilizes the unique qualities of the wool fiber. In this workshop you will learn to lay down fiber, make prefelt, and create an inlay design. You can bring your own ideas or be inspired by traditional designs.
We will also intersperse our day with some qigong: gentle exercises that are a nice complement to felting and other activities of daily life.
All materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own fiber or embellishments.
Registration will be first come, first served and we will give preference to those who have not yet taken a Currents: Free Art Class.
