NE Harbor Library Virtual Talk
July 8 @ 5:30 pm
On Wednesday, July 8, at 5:30 p.m., Deborah Bronk from the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Science will give a virtual talk titled “The Unmatched Influence of Microscopic Ocean Life.” The talk is being sponsored by the Northeast Harbor Library.
The ocean is life. Microscopic organisms in every drop shape our planet, and their health will determine its future. Bigelow researchers are taking a bold, new look at the ocean to understand its mysteries, address its challenges, and unlock the limitless opportunity hidden in each drop of seawater. Enjoy an illuminating evening with Bronk, president and CEO of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, to learn about the cutting-edge oceanographic investigations they have underway that can shape the future health of the planet.
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is an independent, nonprofit research institute founded in 1974, located on the Damariscotta River in East Boothbay. They focus on microscopic marine life and issues that underpin global ocean health. Bigelow scientists carry out fieldwork in every ocean basin on the planet, and from pole to pole. They believe in bold research and big thinking, using cutting-edge techniques to understand the ocean’s mysteries, address its challenges and unlock its hidden opportunities.
