Northeast Harbor Library Online Talk

Thanks to a Maine Humanities Council Grant, the Northeast Harbor Library is pleased to announce that Hong Zhang, associate professor of East Asian studies at Colby College, will give a Zoom talk titled “The Evolution of China’s Birth Control Policy: Consequences and Challenges” on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m.
Zhang obtained her Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia University and is a recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholar Research Award. She is currently teaching both Chinese language and Chinese culture courses. Her research interests include changing family life and marriage patterns, gender and intergenerational relations, the impact of China’s one-child policy and new eldercare patterns, the development of civil society and NGOs and the politics of satire and humor in contemporary China.
