Online Amateur Radio Class
May 5 @ 7:00 pm
The Maine Ham Radio Society is conducting a six-week amateur radio “technician” course, the entry-level ham radio class of license, and will cover many of these topics. The course will be conducted on the Zoom videoconferencing application via the internet.
The classes will start April 14 and will be held each Wednesday at 7 p.m. There is no cost, but participants are encouraged to purchase the fourth edition of the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual – Technician Level book, which is available at arrl.org.
It has never been a more exciting time to be an amateur (ham) radio operator. Hams can access a fleet of communication satellites orbiting the Earth, bounce signals off the moon, use the ionosphere to make contacts around the globe and experiment with the ever-increasing number of digital modes. Knowing how to communicate during or after disaster is also a valuable skill to possess.
