Online Talk: “Vietnam 50 Years Later”
June 30 @ 5:30 pm
Photographer and naturalist Bob Thayer will present an online talk titled “Vietnam 50 Years Later,” hosted by the Southwest Harbor Public Library, on Tuesday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m.
For many Americans, the word Vietnam conjures memories of war and discord. But after nearly 50 years, visiting the country again, with a friendlier mission, was both revealing and rewarding. This program looks at Vietnam from both sides of the war and reveals the beauty of the land and its people, something that was often overlooked during the war.
A native of Maine, but for 30 years a teacher in Massachusetts schools, Thayer has spent his summers as a naturalist at Acadia National Park. He has photographed and authored three books on the park. Thayer’s primary photographic focus has been in New England, but occasional trips to other countries with his wife, Linda, have provided inspiration for creating multimedia programs.
