Qigong Sessions at Beth C. Wright Center
August 8 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Monday, repeating until Monday, August 29, 2022
Qigong sessions are returning to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center this summer. Qigong is a complementary therapy practice that supports the body’s natural healing process. Nancye Files has led Qigong practice sessions for several years prior to stopping during the pandemic but will resume in-person on Monday, June 13, at 1 p.m. and will take place every Monday from 1-2 p.m. (except holidays). Participants in this group follow along to a video with Nancye’s knowledgeable guidance.
Qigong is a gentle, moving meditation that combines physical postures, stretching and breathing techniques while focusing the mind to gain a deeper sense of calm. This coordination of body, breath and mind is thought to improve physical fitness, relieve stress and promote overall well-being. Qigong is an ancient practice based on traditional Chinese medicine which recognizes and activates the body’s natural vital energy: Chi (Qi). Other benefits of Qigong are improved balance, pain relief, increased energy, and increased brain function. The National Health Institute recommends Qigong and Tai Chi for people living with cancer.
This is a gentle exercise that people of any age or any level of physical fitness can do. Beginners are welcome. It can be practiced anywhere at any time wearing comfortable clothing.
