SW Harbor Public Library Online Program
September 17 @ 5:30 pm
Join the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 5:30 p.m. for an online conversation between Philip Frey and Carl Little as they discuss Frey’s recent show “Moment[um]” at Ellsworth’s Courthouse Gallery Fine Art. In the past 20 years, Philip Frey has developed into one of Maine’s finest landscape painters. Known as a brilliant colorist, Frey paints Maine’s harbors and islands with a bold palette that captures the light and moods of his home state, from the streets of Ellsworth and Portland to Monhegan and Acadia National Park. Carl Little wrote the introduction to “Philip Frey: Here and Now,” published in 2018, that presents the first in-depth look at Frey’s body of work. Little is the author of numerous art books, including monographs on John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Dahlov Ipcar, Beverly Hallam, Francis Hamabe, Joel Babb, William Irvine, Jeffery Becton, Wendy Turner, Irene Olivieri and Philip Barter.
