“Tai Chi for Health” Classes at Frenchman’s Bay Public Library
March 31 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until Tuesday, March 31, 2020
Healthy Acadia will help Sullivan residents stay active this winter with a free, eight-week, “Tai Chi for Health” class at Frenchman’s Bay Library, 1776 US-1, Sullivan. Classes will meet on Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. to noon, beginning February 11 and continuing through March 31, 2020.
Tai chi is a highly adaptable martial art form that combines slow, deliberate movement sequences with breathing exercises. Regular tai chi practice has been proven to improve relaxation, flexibility, balance, concentration, and muscle strength, and can help to relieve pain and symptoms of chronic disease.
Healthy Acadia’s “Tai Chi for Health” classes, created by Dr. Paul Lam, founder of the Tai Chi Institute for Health, are evidenced-based and employ a step-by-step teaching method, which makes tai chi easy to learn. “Tai Chi for Health” offers proven health benefits and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, at all levels of physical ability.
While classes are free, a $5 per-class donation is suggested. For more information or to register for the class at Frenchman’s Bay Library, contact Nina Zeldin at 207-667-7171 or by email at [email protected].
