Talk at Wilson Museum
June 7 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Wilson Museum will host a talk titled “Inuit Communities Adapting to a Changing Arctic” on June 7 from 4-5 p.m. The speaker is Genevieve LeMoine of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center of Bowdoin College.
What changes are happening in the Arctic and how are Inuit communities adapting?
Connecting to Inuit cultural materials in the Wilson Museum’s collections and exhibits, LeMoiner will discuss how Inuit communities are adapting to the changing Arctic climate.
LeMoine works as the curator/registrar of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center, a position she has held since 1996. She has traveled to various parts of the Canadian Arctic and northwestern Greenland, where she has conducted archaeological and oral history research in the places frequently visited by both Robert A. Peary and Donald B. MacMillan. Learn more about the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum on their website: bowdoin.edu/arctic-museum/.
The public is invited to join the program in-person and virtually. To receive the Zoom link, email Haley at [email protected] with the subject line “Inuit Communities Zoom Link.”
