Turkey Shoot in Waltham
October 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, repeating until Sunday, October 25, 2020
The Waltham-Eastbrook Youth Association is holding its turkey shoot events on Sundays in October. COVID-era safety precautions are suggested.
The group was formed nine years ago to raise funds for various scholarships for children from the two towns, and to have a good time doing it. So far, they have given out over $16,000, helping send children to various sports camps, school field trips and this year two college scholarships of over $2,000 each.
The turkey shoots are the group’s primary fundraiser. They are held every Sunday in October from 10 a.m. until noon. There are events for .22 rifles, 12 and 20-gauge shotguns with ammo provided and an open category that has seen everything from bows and arrows to hunger caliber rifles. Shooting is at paper targets. Frozen turkeys are awarded to the winners of each of the 15 events. The local 4-H Club provides refreshments and spectators are welcome.
The shooting range is located off Route 200 in Waltham and signs direct the way. Organizers say there is plenty of room for social distancing.
