Wild Sun Catchers Workshop at Blue Hill Library
May 4 @ 3:30 pm
Kids of all ages are invited to join Blue Hill Library Youth Services Librarian Claire Malina and Blue Hill Heritage Trust Outreach Coordinator Landere Naisbitt on Wednesday, May 4, at 3:30 p.m. for a workshop on shadbush.
Landere will share information about the animals, insects and other species that interact with shadbush as well as a bit about its history and folklore. Claire will read the story “When the Shadbush Blooms” by Carla Messinger and Susan Katz and illustrated by David Kanietakeron Fadden. We will be joined by special guest and artist Kirsten Rickert, who will teach participants to make flower crowns using shadbush and other spring blossoms.
Wild Sun Catchers is a monthly program for kids and families that celebrates the wild plants of the Blue Hill Peninsula, with focus on a different plant each month. This program is free and is co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Library and Blue Hill Heritage Trust. All are welcome, though space is limited and registration is required.
To register or for more information, visit www.bhpl.net or call 374-5515.
