Winter Harbor Music Festival: “Songs From Here”
September 2 @ 7:00 pm
$15
Join soprano Sarah Tuttle (pictured) and pianist Bridget Convey at Hammond Hall on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. for an evening of New England-inspired song and poetry.
The program will be a tribute to and celebration of New England poets past and present. The performers will be highlighting texts by Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay and others in music written by Ives, Copland, Sheila Silver and Margaret Bonds. The centerpiece of the program will be a new commission by Maine-based composer Erica J. Ball and will feature exclusively Maine poets.
The performance will create a more interdisciplinary experience by including poetry readings in the body of the recital. Readings will feature poets local to Winter Harbor and the immediate surrounding area, thereby creating a slightly different concert experience in each setting where we perform, and highlighting the regional, state and hyper-local connections between art song and the written word.
Tickets are $15. For more information, visit www.winterharbormusicfestival.org.
