Resilience and Inspiration While Living with Stage 4 Cancer
A Free Discussion with Donna Wiegle of Swan’s Island
One thing that no one ever wants to receive is an end-stage cancer diagnosis. The ability to accept this and to thrive and live life to the fullest is what Donna Wiegle of Swan’s Island has successfully done.
Donna is a 30-year cervical cancer survivor, who is now four years into a secondary cancer journey of stage IV ovarian cancer. It has not been easy for Donna, but her amazing way of putting one foot in front of the other has facilitated her to continue to live her life in a positive way. Her mission is to help other women learn the symptoms of ovarian cancer and to help them advocate for themselves with their medical providers.
Donna will tell the story of her remarkable journey through a Zoom discussion on Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. She will share how she continues to live a life with this diagnosis – finding ways to move on and inspire others – finding support with friends she has made at the Turning the Tide Ovarian Cancer Retreat. Her greatest joy is spending time on her motorcycle. Donna completed a solo ride in 2019 on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling across the U.S to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and raise money for several non-profit cancer organizations, including the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center.
This Zoom discussion is offered by the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth and is open to all. Registration is required. Call 664-0339 or email [email protected].
