Youth Bird Carving Workshop at Wendell Gilley Museum
March 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Saturday, repeating until Saturday, March 30, 2019
The Wendell Gilley Museum is looking for young artists, ages 10 and above, to create an Arctic tern silhouette. Come try your hand at different stages of the art of bird carving, from initial carving and supervised wood burning to painting. All levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. Completed carvings can be entered in the Youth Division of the annual Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition, held at the Ward Museum on Maryland’s eastern shore. The Gilley will offer four Saturday sessions, March 2–March 30, from 10-11:30 a.m. There is no class on March 23. We recommend signing up for at least two or three classes to finish the project – no need to attend all four! There is a $5 materials fee.
