So much of what we do now is driven by the drug problem. It is a constant drain on our resources with high crime and filling our jail. Many in the jails also have mental health issues, which compounds the problems.
Finding quality candidates to fill any positions in law enforcement is a major problem not only here but nationwide. With the increasing demand for services, this increases the problem.
The cost of delivering the services goes up every year, placing a burden on the taxpayer. It is a juggling act, trying to do more with less.
