One of the greatest honors of my life was serving the citizens of Hancock County in the Maine Legislature. I want to serve again, because I am a problem solver and I bring the most relevant experience to the job.
The upcoming budget shortfall will require making tough decisions. I have that experience. When I was elected to the senate the state faced a $1 billion shortfall and over the eight years I served we eliminated that shortfall.
I taught for 27 years in the Ellsworth School system and have been a small business owner for 35 years. Over the 10 years I served, I had the honor to serve on the Taxation Committee, Labor Committee, Marine Resources Committee and the Education Committee, of which I served as the chair for six of the eight years I served on the committee. This combination of experience has prepared me to hit the ground running.
The pandemic has decimated small business in Hancock County. Students, parents and teachers are struggling with issues around remote learning. The lobster industry is facing challenges that could have a negative effect on the industry. I am running again because I can help solve these problems.
