Candidate Statement

I am running to continue my work on the Hancock County Budget Advisory Committee. I will fight for workers, the environment and restorative justice.
In keeping with the overwhelming majority of the county’s voters, I am anti-cruise ship. I am also the only candidate in this race with a pro-BLM [Black Lives Matter] platform. Many people across the county were bothered by the sheriff’s recent riot gear request. He has admitted to helping ICE deport our neighbors because their papers were not in order. I will be a check on the police.
Finally, Hancock County is facing a shortage of workers, housing and medical care. Not a single person living here should be experiencing food insecurity. I will ensure that no one in this county wants for necessities. We will charge the cost entirely to empty billionaire mansions.
I have lived on MDI for almost two decades. For six years, I taught English at Dongguk University in Gyeongju, South Korea. I recently signed a contract with a small publisher to produce a trilogy of novels, but have also worked as a farm laborer and a dishwasher. My partner and I have two children.
