I was born and raised in Ellsworth and have spent most of my life here. Our communities have provided me with tremendous opportunities; public service is a way to give back and help build a brighter Maine future.
The global pandemic has presented extraordinary challenges to our state and country. Protecting the public health and rebuilding our economy remains the prime focus moving forward. The two issues are intertwined. Ensuring Mainers have access to healthcare is more important than ever, and helping our small businesses recover is paramount.
The pandemic has also highlighted rural Maine’s need for better internet, whether it’s working from home, building an online business, or schooling remotely.
My priorities remain building a stronger, modernized Maine economy that provides good-paying jobs and keeps our young people here. Protecting our natural resources is critical for our health and economy. Investing in renewable energy will reduce fossil fuel usage while creating quality jobs. And we must continue our work to lower prescription drug costs.
I’m proud of my record of bipartisan work in the legislature, which is more important now than ever. Working together, I strongly believe Maine will come out of the pandemic stronger than ever.
