I decided to run for the Legislature to ensure our children and grandchildren would have the same or better quality of life that we have had. I feel very blessed to have grown up in rural Maine. I have spent nearly 35 years building a business employing 38 Maine people with good-paying jobs.
As I look at our state today, I wonder what kind of opportunities our grandchildren will have. With looming shortfalls caused by our state’s response to this pandemic, we must prioritize our limited resources for people who lack the ability to provide for themselves. We must also enable businesses to safely reopen. The projected budget shortfall is approximately $1.3 billion over the next three years. We will need additional revenue along with budget cuts to fill these gaps. Any increased tax burden on hardworking Maine people will further delay any economic recovery and must not be an option.
We can safely return our economy to the level of prosperity we enjoyed before the pandemic, thus returning revenues as well if we work together. Help me take my commonsense business approach to Augusta and put it to work for you.
